 Doña Ana Arts Council (DAAC) Awards were presented April 8 at the historic Rio Grande Theatre to honor individuals who are actively involved in promoting and enhancing the visual, performing and literary arts in our community through leadership, support and advocacy.
This year’s theme “Saddle Up!” was inspired by the original painting of the same name by artist (and past DAAC President) Kathleen Squires. Entertainment with western dance tunes played live by “Desert Wind”, a tribute to Patsy Cline and Dolly Parton by Janet Mazdra and a square dance exhibition by Las Cruces Chamber Ballet preceded the awards.
