Pinocchio
July 25-30 – Rio Grande Theatre
Missoula Children’s theatre is a week-long theatre experience for children ages 5 to 18, and is open to all children in the community. Approximately 60 children are cast in the play, or selected to be assistant directors. Auditions take place on Monday, rehearsals take place all week and culminate with two public performances. This year’s presentation will be “Pinocchio”, with cast selection and rehearsals scheduled for July 25-30, 2011. Performance on Friday, July 29 at 7:00 pm and a matinee performance on Saturday, July 30th at 2:30 pm.

Color Las Cruces 2011
September 9-11 – Downtown Las Cruces
This annual festival is three full days of ongoing activities and entertainment in Downtown Las Cruces, with a “Quickdraw,” Plein Air competition, an Artist Reception, and a gallery showing. A Plein Air workshop with noted artist David Schwindt will be held on September 6-8, leading into the festival weekend. Proceeds raised support the Arts Council’s Career Art Path summer program for middle school kids.

Reception and announcement of the Plein Air Competition awards will be held Saturday evening, September 10. Meet the plein air artists and visit the gallery exhibit where their work will be displayed and offered for sale. Then sample food and wine from local establishments and enjoy a live performance in front of the Rio Grande Theatre. More events occur on Sunday including another opportunity to meet the plein air artists and purchase their work.

Renaissance Artsfaire 2011
November 5-6 – Young Park
40th Anniversary. Since its inception in 1971, this annual festival has steadily grown and now attracts over 25,000 people to Young Park on the first weekend of November.

One of the largest cultural events in Southern New Mexico, this juried faire showcases local and regional artists, crafts-people, and entertainers. All proceeds from artist booth fees, food booth fees, non-profit information booth fees and donations at the gates go to support Arts Council programs.
